What a day...

Arrived at work, and it was a normal day till about 10:30 a.m. Then my desk phone rang, and my cel phone also. It seemed that in the course of work, a contractor on my project had a tree topple into a house, not a small tree by a 30 foot high Live Oak. I rushed to the scene, arriving as the paramedics drove off carrying an injured resident to the emergency room. Next came the Edison crews, as the falling tree had cut the electric lines, a school, less than a block away was without power. I spent the better part of my day dealing with contractors, tree crews, managers, residents, risk management, arborists, cable TV crews, and the peanut gallery. Nothing is conclusive yet, as no one is willing to say that it was their responsibility. While we were there I also asked that another tree nearby be removed as it was showing signs that it might be unsafe. So, I spent a lot of time on the cel phone, a lot of time standing around waiting for people to arrive and inspect the site. I'm tired and will retire after I digest the State of the Union speech and maybe make another journal entry.
