curmugeonSeems that California has another manufactured energy crisis on its hands. The local refiners of petroleum have decided to due maintenance right now, they are also changing formulas to make cleaner gasoline, and the Midwest farmers and agribusiness that control the supply of ethanol are slow at making deliveries. Yes, ethanol is vital to the new formula that rids us of MBTE, a serious pollutant of ground water.
We have a state budget crisis, all kinds of cuts are being made, schools, services for the elderly, and other 'non-essential' services are being cut. At work, we will be in the budget cut mode, we are pushing all projects that were budgeted last year out the door before the end of the fiscal year (for us July 01), as to assure that the funds are spent before someone else takes them.
We had over two inches of rain last night, maybe more in Anza. There were times last night when it was all my wipers could handle, and I was thankful I have a high clearance vehicle as I forded many an intersection. I saw too many crashes because of people driving too fast, too many fools driving like they wanted to die and take someone with them. Just because they are behind the wheel of a car, treat it with respect, not like a weapon of mass destruction.
