I save tolls on the express lanes of the 91 freeway, I save about 4 tanks of gas a week when I use the bus connection. That adds up quickly. I also get money from my workplace to offset the cost of the train pass (which also serves as a buspass in both Orange and Riverside County. It's a win, win, win.
Take the tolls times 20 per month = $280.00 So, I save about $300 right now, and possibly more next month with my change in straegy, by using the bus link from Temecula I could save another $250 a month in gas. That is still after driving about 80 miles a day. This doens't even include savings from oil changes, insurance, and other vehicle maintenance. Plus, I get to be around train stations.
Oh, and I get $85 dollars back from a state fund that supports employee car pooling and alternative transportation programs.
