The Republican politicians see the writing on the wall. They know their time at the trough is getting short. It's time to give and they plan on making the best of the season. They want to give the oil companies some gifts, more access to the north slope, and the ability to drill off the coast. Their excuse is that they want to help the energy crisis but fail to mention that no oil will get to market for 7 to 10 years. Just a simple gift to the oil companies.

Whay I'm really waiting for are the pardons Dubya is going to hand out. Karl will get one, so will Alberto Gonzales. I figure he'll pardon Libby, and most of the other members of his administration. Hey, he has to give cover to his crimes.

Actually he would be wiser not to. If he pardons them, then they can be called to testify without being able to invoke the 5th amendment because, having been pardoned, they can no longer self incriminate themselves.

Notice how Duh-bya didn't pardon Scooter Libby but only commuted his sentence? Pardoned people tend to blab, see Ollie North...
