Just had my first cup of coffee, now to decide to take a trip to the Kaiser 24 hour pharmacy to get some refills processed, then to Irvine to take a look at a truck. Still just looking even though I've seen some nice 'toys' I'd like if I was rich. Saw a beautiful GMC Envoy SUV that was very nice (all the options and it gets 22 mpg too) and a Ford Ranger Edge 4X4 with only 16,000 miles (it probably would have been a gas hog, 4 liter V-6, 4X4 and automatic) .

did you ever locate a book at amazon the helped identify locomotives?

Yes, I'm expecting them from Amzaon next week. I had them shipped the slow/free route. I'll give you a review when I try them out. I think the total came to a bit over 25 dollars.

These are the books, only one deals with train identification...

A Field Guide to Trains of North America (Peterson Field Guide Series)

Guide to North American Railroad Hot Spots (Railroad Reference Series)

cool, thank you.
I glanced at the first one's pages that amazon shows. People use different lingo for some of the parts to a locomotive. That's sometimes what confuses me. Like the front and rear walking area, I've heard called a porch, not a platform. but the books looks good and I think could be a real asset because it uses drawings instead of photos. I like that.
