Last week was busy, very busy.
First, Monday morning, waiting for a consultant to deliver the goods so a contract could be issued, no such luck.
Mom calls and can't find one of the sets of keys, nothing important, but just enough of an issue that I get a bit short with her and her insistence that she be able to live her own life. I tell her that this is a perfect example of why i don't see her living alone much longer. She gets upset, I get upset.
I have three requests on my desk for estimates of street work. I try to depend on interns but they are out of control. I can't depend on them to show up for work on time, and management doesn't set an example I can use, as most drift in sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. How can you tell an intern to be on time when the people in charge are lax themselves.
More work to get the contract out, it seems that some people don't have any common sense of just are doomed to turn out a half ass-ed product. I'll do my best but will wash my hands of this job.
Supervisor is scheduled for surgery on Friday. He blew out his knee in a golf cart accident. You play and you pay, especially when your friends screw up.
Friday, I'm at the mercy of my departmental boss. I try to get some things done for her, finished a few, and gave her some bad news when one item failed to work out.
Saturday, rain, the usual road trip, then Mom wants to go shopping, more rain, driving wet mountain roads, not much accomplished. Total miles for the day 325. A lot of driving.
