now they want to screw the troops...
Aug. 19th, 2011 08:05 amThe Pentagon wants to change the military retirement system... when I was in service it was stay 20 years and you retired at half your pay, stay 30 years and you retired a 75% pay.. this meant if I had stayed in I could have retired at 41 years old and gone on to a second career. Now they are worried as these pension obligation keep climbing. Their excuse is that many serve less than 20 years and walk away with nothing. They want to change the formula and bring it more in line with 'civilian pension programs' and they have a bunch of civilian corporate executives studying the matter. No, they are really wanting to screw the veterans who serve because the cost of keeping these wars is getting higher than they can handle, so rather than less wars, we need to screw the troops. I wonder what this will do to the concept of empire some of these war hawks like so much... they of coure promise that any changes won't impact current soldiers... don't want a whole bunch of volunteer soldiers leaving in droves.
