Okay, the escrow closed. Money has been deposited. This was the first day of 'homelessness'. It is going to be a learning experience. Those things you take for granted have a whole new meaning. Things like hot showers, private bathrooms, wireless connections are all cherished. At 5 p.m. today I was still working on my 'new' home. First I have to clean it. it has been sitting vacant for over a year. I have to haul some stuff that was left behind to the dump. I have to set up my kitchen. I have to get the water working and the electricity working somewhat, but I'm also adopting a new life schedule. I'm up at dawn, in bed by dark. I kept a few small appliances, they will stay at my shack. I need to refine my camping gear, I want to sleep on a cot with a decent mattress (inflatable) I want a larger tent that I can set up easily. I'm going to reconfigure my Yakima rack system to haul it all.

This is the first day of the rest of my life. Lets see where this takes me.
I've been using my truck for the last few days a lot. I'm sort of torn, for some of my trips the truck will do better, but for the grand tour I'll probably use the car. I'm looking into a few repairs on the truck and the addition of a proper hitch and camper shell. It will probably be where I live this winter. I may find a cheap trailer to tow behind it. As for the car, it will do well on the grand tour, with a little refinement of the camping gear, tent camping will be the norm. I'll probably carry only one bike. I'll use the bike (if the knee still works) for those short errands and for sightseeing. It is a great way to see things at a slower pace and it allows you to stop and take pictures easily. More as this new life develops.
